All MVYHA hockey players and parents:

Join all of your friends to celebrate the Slice of Shoreview and MVYHA. We will have a booth on Friday night and Saturday for everyone to visit and play fun games. Bring your friends and neighbors to show them how much fun we have playing youth hockey. We will also participate in the parade.

Parade
We need everyone to show their Mustang pride and skate along side the MVYHA float in the Slice of Shoreview parade. We will have MVYHA jerseys available to wear at the parade lineup meeting area. Get crazy...wear your green and white. Wear your rollerblades. Players and parents are welcome to particpate.

Parade Date: Saturday, July 25, 2009
Lineup Time: 9 a.m.( Please arrive by 9:30 AM) Parade Start Time: 10 a.m.
Parade End Time: Approximately 11:30 a.m.

Location
The parade lineup starts at 9 a.m. at the St. Odilia’s parking lot between Vivian and Victoria. Parking is extremely limited in this area; participants are advised to park non-parade vehicles in the Deluxe Corporation parking lot on Victoria Street, across from Island Lake County Park and take the shuttle bus to St. Odilia’s parking lot.
The actual parade route runs eastward on Cannon Avenue from Vivian Avenue to Victoria Street, then turns north on Victoria Street to Island Lake County Park. Near the end of the parade route, Cable TV Channel 15 will have a broadcast booth setup with cameras and live announcers. The parade ends at the entrance to Island Lake County Park and all parade applicants are routed through the Deluxe Corporation parking lot to unload

Only vehicles “in the parade” will be allowed in the parking lot.

“Drop Offs” will be allowed to enter only from St. Odilia’s main entrance on Victoria Street.

Please contact us with any further questions or would like to volunteer to help with the booth and/or parade.

MVYHA needs YOU!!

Do you love the sport of hockey? Do you love watching your hockey player skate down the ice, dangling the defensemen, and finding the back of the net with a snapshot? Do you love watching your goalie make the save of a life time? Or how about that defenseman that breaks-up an odd man rush and prevents the other team from taking the lead?

How about all the life lessons that are taught through this game we all love? How hard work and practice can lead to success, that no matter how bad you are losing, never give up, always be gracious in victory and defeat, always play with integrity, and no matter what always show good sportsmanship.

Well, none of this can happen without the hard work of our volunteers. We all want to hockey in Mounds View to be the best it can be, and you can help do this by volunteering. Volunteers are at the core of our success as an association and we need your help to make the 2009-2010 season the best it can be.

We currently have several volunteer opportunities available. Please go to www.mvhockey.org and click on the “Volunteers” tab towards the top of the page. There you will find a list of the positions that we need your help with. Please contact the person listed by each position if you are interested or have any questions about that opportunity.

Please consider giving back to the association that gives your child the opportunity to play this game that they love- the game of HOCKEY.

 Thank you!

MVYHA Board

Greetings from the President - Michele Lacy

'Let the journey begin' is the term I have used to open up the 2009-2010 MVYHA Board year. I am excited and have great enthusiasm for what the next year holds for Mounds View Youth Hockey. It was great to see so many faces at our General Meeting last night. It confirms that we as parents are committed to having a great Association for our kids to play hockey in. The sky is the limit for what we can achieve together.

I want to thank our outgoing Board members, Hugh Carlson, Greg Kraut, and Peter Rupert for completing their terms on the Board. I gratefully appreciate their contributions and many hours of work they have given to our association.

I would like to welcome Jen Klein (Girl’s Coordinator), Phil Neururer (Boy’s Coordinator), and Jim Newham (Initiation Coordinator) to their new Board positions. Their initiative, enthusiasm and willingness to take on these positions are greatly appreciated.

I am excited to report that we have a wonderful candidate who has stepped up for our Registration Coordinator position. Our plans are to vote her in during our May Board Meeting.

Monday night we started our volunteer recruitment for the upcoming season. All open volunteer positions will be posted on the MVYHA website in the very near future. I do ask that every family look at what gifts they have to contribute to the association. We are lucky to have such wonderful coaches, managers, board members, coordinators, tournament directors, etc. etc. that have contributed many hours over the last season, but we need to expand our volunteer effort.  As I stated Monday night, the strength and success of our Association is reliant on the members who serve.

Again, I am honored to have the opportunity to lead this association. I look forward to meeting and working with each and every one of you over the coming year.

Truly yours~

Michele Lacy

PS: We hope to see everyone at the Slice of Shoreview on Saturday, July 25. We need all MVYHA players to put on their roller blades and skate with the MVYHA parade unit. More info to come…..
